Summer Abundance — Walk Through Farmers Market
Let us not forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other arts will follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization.– Daniel Webster
These are the colors of California farms — rich and vibrant!
Summer vegetables are brimming with freshness. And they sure are in abundance! Everywhere I see, there is something intriguing me. And I can’t help capturing them on my camera. I guess it’s the temptation to enjoy them later. After all, it is a feast for the eyes.
A trip to farmers market is always a treat for me. I’d rather be around this beauty under the blue sky than anywhere else closed doors. There is a feeling of earthiness being surrounded by the very basic commodities. Nothing fancy– just vegetables, fruits, breads, oils, honey, plants, and flowers….yet there is a sense of calm. I notice, people for the most part are just walking through and gathering what they need. Some familiar faces, a few cordial greetings here and there! Of course, there is curiosity about new discoveries and helpful chats with the vendors to learn more. But everyone seems to be enjoying their visit — kids and adults.
It is a time to bond over a bag of popcorn, an ice cream, a cold drink, or just a stroll. Walking alone or holding someone’s hands, it’s a peaceful and friendly place to be.
Just a place to see the world go by!
Come along and see what I found. It is just vegetables this time. There is more though for future posts.
Hope these beautiful vegetables inspire you to make something special. I would love to hear from you about your creations.
Stay close to the earth!
“Farmers markets are green shoots coming out of the gun. They represent hope and they need to be cultivated. But we have a juggernaut coming at us.” — Jerry Brown
